House of Illustration is planning an exhibition for 2018-9 that will show how illustration has been used to document the refugee crisis and share human stories. The exhibition is still in its early stages, but the aim is to humanise the refugee crisis and show the importance of illustrators in helping the public understand political and personal events. It will also be of crucial importance to show work by refugees themselves.
They are interested in the work of adults who use reportage illustration (either from life or drawing on their past experiences, and in any media) and who have experienced a refugee journey themselves as part of their research for this topic. The exhibition will be on display at House of Illustration from 9th November 2018 to 10th March 2019 (provisional dates), and then they hope to tour the exhibition in the UK.
