My name is Sam Slatcher and I'm a musician, singer-songwriter and community arts facilitator.
I am live in Durham, North East England, and my songwriting explores themes of sanctuary, peacemaking, living together in community. I frequently gig in the North East and launched a debut EP at Durham City Theatre in April 2018. Visit www.samslatcher.com to keep in touch.
I am also passionate about engaging different communities in the process of storytelling through songwriting and run a C.I.C called Citizen Songwriters.
I am the founder of a community songwriting project called Stories of Sanctuary which brings together people from refugee and other backgrounds through creating songs about seeking peace and sanctuary for war and conflict. In October 2018, we launched a collaborative album of songs called 'Stories of Sanctuary' to a sold-out audience at Durham Cathedral. The album features a Syrian refugee choir, Raghad Haddad from the National Syrian Orchestra, and Paul Martin, North East multi-instrumentalist. See www.storiesofsanctuary.co.uk to learn more.
