I’m a performance maker, puppetry specialist and visual artist. I work in collaboration with theatre companies and a network of individual practitioners combining performance and puppetry. I’m often commissioned as a puppet maker in response to briefs, and at the stage of design and conception.
I feel passionate about working in education, running workshops that develop practical skills and encourage creative thought. I believe that creative work can have an incredible transformative effect on both the participant and audience.
With my puppetry company Paper Jungle, we are currently working on our second puppetry performance Three Suns. Three Suns tells three stories from three different continents- from the Caribbean, to Europe, to the Middle East. We rejoice in the cosy relationship we have with our home, whilst being transported to other cultures where we taste the flavour of new lands. By sharing aspects of everyday life in a light and humorous way we hope that Three Suns will connect rural audiences and bring a sense of existing as one and all.
This project is as much focused on outreach, as performance. After observing the disparate connection between migrant communities and “locals” living in rural areas, we feel it’s vital to shine a light on both new and long established migrant communities living in our local area- Gloucestershire.
We will be running workshops where people can get involved in both the narrative storytelling, and a craft workshop where we will create part of the set. I would love to reach out to individuals or organisations who would be interested in being involved in the process of making this show.
