I am working on a new project photographing refugees in different European countries and am keen to find people in the UK who would like to participate.
I am using a Camera Obscura to keep the background in sharp focus while the human figure is blurred – reflecting the reality of having lives lived in limbo and often not acknowledged by official bodies.
Already, I have photographed some refugees in Scharding on the River Inn on the border with Bavaria. The real destination for the majority of refugees lies across the river but Bavarian Federal Police await them. In the meantime, the refugee lives in the shadows, thus they are out of focus, a blur, do they exist in the consciousness?
