The Stranger photographic series by Arteh Odjidja is a portrait based project, showcasing the inspirational stories of young migrants and refugees from all parts of the world.
It offers young people the opportunity to share their individual experiences of leaving their country of birth and all that they’ve known, to discover new purpose and opportunities in major cities around the world.
For a related educational project, Arteh has worked with Coram’s Young Citizens programme.
Over a series of workshops, supported by Leica Camera UK, Arteh helped the Young Citizens ambassadors to develop their photography skills and refine their own unique creative voices. Their photographs showcase the achievements and aspirations of young migrants in order to challenge public perceptions and inspire those from similar backgrounds.
The photographs were displayed to the public at the British Museum as part of Refugee Week.
