Mafwa Theatre is a community theatre company which brings refugees, asylum seekers and settled communities together. We use drama and the arts to create work that celebrates our similarities and differences, brings women together and speaks truth to power.
They use their platform to highlight and enable development opportunities for artists and theatre makers from migrant backgrounds, advocate for migrant rights and celebrate diverse communities.
This year they have been funded by the National Lottery and Arts Council England to co-create a 12 month programme alongside five Associate Artists. The programme provides the Associate Artists with the chance to develop their artistic practice, create their own work and receive career support.
They are looking for mentors who are experienced in their field, to support Mafwa’s Associate Artists to reach their artistic and career development goals. They are looking for individuals with expertise in:
– Acting for stage and screen
– Writing for stage and screen
– Directing for stage and screen
– Creative writing (particularly in multiple languages)
Each mentor will support one Associate Artist via 3 one to one meetings throughout the year. Mentors will be paid for their time at £50 per 1 hour meeting.
They are specifically looking for mentors who reflect the life experiences of the Associate Artists.
If you are interested, please send one of the following to firstname.lastname@example.org:
– a link to a portfolio of your work or a website
