Featuring Bristol Reggae Orchestra, Bahman Salahshour, Ali Elmubarak, Knud Stuwe
The Bristol Reggae Orchestra perform a host of Jamaican ska and reggae, including pieces by Lord Tanamo, Phyllis Dillon, Freddie McGregor, Bob Marley, as well as a number of original compositions from the orchestra members. Bahman Salahshour joins them to perform songs from Iran; the oud duet Ali Elmubarak and Knud Stuwe joins them to perform music from Sudan. Bahman Salahshour and his band perform popular songs from Iran, including pieces such as Gole Sangam and Chera Nemiraghsi.
The Lorraine Ayensu Refugee Arts (LARA) fund works to support refugee and asylum seeking musicians. The annual LARA showcase takes place during Refugee Week this year, and brings together local performers alongside musicians who have settled in Bristol for their safety.
Ali and Knud will also be performing a short post-concert set in the Crypt.
