Welcome to Yorkshire
Poetry workshops and performance as part of a special project for Platforma 6 led by Kayo Chingonyi.
Commissioned by Counterpoints Arts for the sixth biennial Platforma Festivial, four poets will work with participants across Yorkshire to create new work for local performances.
The project is being led by poet Kayo Chingonyi, whose first collection Kumukanda won the Costa Prize and whose new collection, A Blood Condition, is shortlisted for the Forward Prize. He is Assistant Professor in the Department of English Studies at Durham University.
The workshops and performances will take place in the following locations:
– Barnsley, with Barnsley Feels Like Home
– Halifax, with St Augustine’s Centre and Halifax Festival of Words (performance: 22 October)
– Rotherham, with British Red Cross and Grimm & Co
– Leeds, with East Street Arts.
