Belen L. Yanez & Plutonyka are looking for venues to perform its new participatory video installation ‘Encounters’ during the Refugee Week 2019.
Plutonyka is currently starting the tour of ‘Encounters’ and is looking for venues to perform this participatory video installation. The tour is starting at the Migration Museum end of May and we are looking to work with venues with connections or outreach programmes with people from minority backgrounds.
‘Encounters’ is an invitation to play, explore and feel. A participatory video installation that aims to empower audiences to actively interact with the community they live in and promote social inclusion.
Audiences are invited to establish a dialogue with each other using their hands, and interact through the sense of touch. This live interaction is projected onto the installation space and accompanied with live music which enhances the performative experience. By getting participants to focus on their hands, we are able to foster an empathic behaviour between people who may not share the same cultural background nor have the same physical appearance, and therefore promote a dialogue between them. This production is aimed at audiences from minority backgrounds, who live in areas of low arts attendance. ‘Encounters’ will generate a real connection between people and the community they live in. Get them to engage at a personal level with their community, borough, council and country.
