Marlborough Theatre in Brighton are hosting This Is Who I Am by the theatre company ice&fire next Friday 7th February at 7.30pm as part of their New Queers on the Block programme.
This Is Who I Am interweaves first hand accounts of LGBTQIA+ people’s experiences of the UK asylum process – collected over many months of engagement with members of the First Wednesday group at the LGBT Foundation in Manchester.
They are now looking for LGBTQ+ performers with an asylum seeker background to read some of the stories on stage. There is a £100 performance fee and travel and accommodation for those who need it. There is very little preparation required as the performer will be able to read the stories with the text in hand.
Anyone who would like to perform and meets the criteria should get in touch with New Queers on the Block Producer Lee Smith by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
ice&fire is a theatre company dedicated to exploring human rights stories through performance. The Actors For Human Rights project is ice&fire’s campaigning programme, presenting readings of first hand accounts of people’s experiences relating to a range of human rights themes.
